Source drive

Thread needs solution

Ed, sorry but too little information to start advising you on this issue?

What exactly are you trying to do and how are you trying to do it?

Are you using the Windows ATI 2016 GUI application or using the ATI Rescue Media to boot?

What type of drive is the Source drive?

How is that Source drive formatted?

Since I upgraded my computers M/board and cpu, I have not been able to see one of my usb external drives.

I have been using this drive for all my Photographs and have not had any problems until now.

I can it in windows and I can access it in al my other programs, but True Image 16 and disk Director cannot see it.

When I try to back it up True Image tells me that drive is not available.

Ed

Ed, thanks for the further information.

How is your external drive formatted?

See the ATI 2016 User Guide: Supported file systems and check that your drive uses one of the supported formats shown, i.e. is not using such as exFAT.

Steve,

The problem is not with the drive, I have been backing it up with Acronis 16 without any problems until I upgraded my computer. now it just will not see it, the format has not changed. Like I said all other programs see it and I can upload and save them with no problems.

Ed

Ed, have you tried creating a new backup task for this problem source drive?

The other thought, what drive letter is it using and have you tried assigning a different drive letter?

Anther possibility is that there is a problem with the USB driver; try updating it. If the USB drive does not have its own power supply, if could be that the USB port is not providing enough power (most likely to happen if it is a USB 2 port).

Ian

Steve.

I solved the problem by deleting old source drive task and creating new backup task which is exactly the same as before.

Still cannot understand why Acronis did not see drive.

Ed, glad to hear the issue is resolved, thanks for the feedback.  I give up at times trying to understand why computers do strange things and defy all logic!  The only explanation is that the software is written by fallible human beings and the hardware is designed by the same too!  That kept me gainfully employed in technical support for over 30 years before taking retirement!
