File backup from external USB2.0 to external USB2.0 hangs (TrueImage 10 and 11, repeatable)

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I tried to backup 18 folders including subfolders (about 350GB) from an external USB 2.0 hard disk drive (Plextor PX-PH500US 500GB) to an external Verbatim USB 2.0 hard disk drive (capacity: 1.5 TB).

After a while there is no more activity on the disks, the display of progress doesn't change any more (I waited many hours).

When I try to abort the process nothing changes. The TrueImageService seems to run on (animated icon in the right corner below the desktop), but if after closing the program window I shut down windows XP i get the messages (I try to translate from german:) "TrueImageNotifier does not respond" "TrueImageService does not respond" and I have to kill these processes before the computer can shut down.

I use an older Netbook (Intel Atom N270, 1,60 GHz, 1GB Ram, Windows XP Home SP3) with an extended desktop (external 22'' monitor). I encountered this problem with TrueImage Home 10, and it persisted when I upgraded to True Image Home 11, even with the newest build I installed yesterday. Thank you very much for every effort to help me with this issue.

Does TI hang if you back up to a different destination (network share, for example) or if you make the backup set smaller (don't try to back up 350GB at one time)?

As a side note, please use the complete version of TI when referencing them. I assume you mean TI 2010 and TI 2011, but you could mean TI 10 and TI 11 (which are the versions before TI 2009).

Thank you for your comment. I use the pre-2009 versions, TI 10 and TI 11.
I have no other destination available, but I will try making the set smaller. I am just a little scared that I might render my TI installation generally unstable if I crash it again and again....

At the moment I run a full backup of the complete disk in the same configuration and it's looking good. The issue seems to be specific for file/folder-backup.
