Thread needs solution

Getting cdp.metadata file does not exist when deleting whole backup using True Image 2016. How can I delete the backup so that I can start over and create a new backup chain?

Paul, welcome to these User Forums.

Perhaps the easiest way in this situation is to use the 'Clone settings' option for your current backup task.  This will create a duplicate task with the same name but prefixed by (1).

Once you have the cloned task, take the Delete option for the original task and select to just remove the settings (not the files).  You can then open the destination location and manually delete the files using Windows Explorer.

Finally, rename the cloned task to remove the (1) prefix, then edit the destination to point this to a new folder unless the original folder is now empty.

I would recommend using the Automatic Cleanup rules to allow Acronis to manage your backup files for you.  My preference is using "Store no more than X recent version chains" where you can set X to be the number you want to keep.  One key point when using this option is to allow for X+1 version chains in the destination location, as ATI only deletes the oldest chain after creating the next new Full backup file successfully.

Steve, it worked :) I can't thank you enough. I was so frustrated. Your reply was prompt and your directions were very specific and clear. Your willingness to help others I hope will be repaid in kind many times over. Have a great day. With my sincerest appreciation, Paul

Paul, glad the suggestion worked OK for you, thanks for your feedback.
