CDROM drive does not display

Thread needs solution

I am helping my friend install TI 2011. Everything went fine until we got to the "Create a Rescue Disk". On the page that shows the drives to create to only one of his CD drives is displayed. The drive does display with the Windows Explorer and in My Computer. He has Windows XP. What could be a reason for it not displaying in TI Home 2011?

Hi William, have you tried inserting a CD into it and is the system set up to be able to boot from that drive? - not sure if TI checks this or not.

Friend on vacation. Will check on your question when he returns in a few days.

Additional info.
On my W7 machine both CDROM burners are displayed, so TI will display both even if no media in them.

Same here. I had the same happen a few years ago. It turned out that the cd/dvd drive was faulty but the first signs were TI not seeing it, and sometimes putting a disc in woke it up! After a while explorer couldn't see it either and eventually it gave up. It was a newish drive too.

When you can, check if it shows up as a destination when you create a backup. I am using XP with TI2011 and everything shows up for me.
