Can't Restore Image From Within Windows

Thread needs solution

Using Win Prof (64-bit)
8Gb Memory
2x1 TB WD Drives
ATI Home 2010
Also have Win XP Mode in hybernation

I can't restore an image starting from within Windows. When I rt-click on the image I wish to restore the process starts, I get the Reboot window and click OK. The machine reboots, I get the Starting Acronis Loader sceen, and then my machine reboots. Good thing that I have a couple of restore media - booting from them I have no trouble restoring the same image. Any ideas?

The recommended procedure for restoring your system partition is when booted from the TI Rescue CD. Doing so removes any interference from within Windows.

Your TI Rescue CD must be keep current with the same version as that installed. The older version CD cannot restore a newer version backup.

Whether you perform your backups from within Windows or when booted from the CD is a matter of personal choice.

Since the Rescue CD is the prime restore method, it is also recommended that you occasionally perform a validation of some of your archives when booted from the CD. Since it is the CD which must read the archive, the validation gives you more assurances that the archives can be properly read.
