TO UPGRADE OR NOT TO UPGRADE

Thread needs solution

I am currently running True Image Home 2010. When I look at what upgrades are available, I see two listed for my account:
Acronis True Image 2009 Home (English) 1 license(s) and
Acronis True Image Home 2010 Standard Upgrade (English 1).
Now maybe it seems intuitive to some as to which upgrades I should apply (or maybe even not, since I already have the 2010 version), but how do I determine which upgrade if any should be applied. In certain cases, the build number of previous upgrades was higher than the build number of the current upgrade? This situation has gone on for some time now, and I never know whether available upgrades should be applied or not. Is there any universal rule to determin the answer to this question. Any help greatly appreciated.

Each version of TI has its own build numbers. Don't compare them to any other version.

As for upgrading, there seem to be two general thoughts. 1) Upgarde to a newer build only if having problems with the current build. If everything is working correctly, don't change it. 2) Upgrade to a newer build when available to fix bugs and (hopefully) avoid future problems.

In most cases, the latest build is going to be the most stable. That would be 7,046 for TI 2010.

Keep in mind that Acronis doesn't really support older builds. For example, if you're using DD 11, you need to have the latest build of TI 2010 (older builds won't work correctly). So, if you're using multiple Acronis programs, it's generally best to keep each one updated to the latest build.

Your reply is full of good information, especially about the build numbers. Thanks!
