Clone SSD from USB 3.0 to SSD USB 3.0

Thread needs solution

I simply want to clone from one SSD to another, both of witch are separate USB 3.0 ports, using Acronis cloning software.

When I get things all set to go, I get this message, "After operation completion, operating systems will not boot from the destination disk in bios."

So does that mean when I put the newer SSD back in the computer that it will not boot up?

I am not sure why you are seeing this. More informaiton wuld be useful. I can only assume that the drive being cloned contains a Windows OS and most versions of Windows will not boot from USB drive. However, if you attach the SSD to a SATA port then hopefully it should boot as expected.

If that does not achieve what you want, create a backup and then restore to the "new" SSD - attached to SATA port.

The message is because the clone will not be bootable from a USB port/drive.  Windows prevents this.  If you are cloning a bootable OS drive (regardless if it is internal or been placed in a USB enclosure), the resulting clone to another USB drive would be the same disk.  However, it too, would not be bootable, unless you removed the drive from the enclosure, removed the original source drive, and placed the clone where the source drive was originally connected to the motherboard in the same computer.

Long story short, you can't boot Windows from a USB drive and that's what the error is from.
