Unable to complete the backup consolidation started ...
Using Acronis True Image 2019 and backing up one computer's selected files to the cloud.
Data size is 54GB, and I have plenty of spare space on the cloud. Last successful cleanup was Friday 15th March.
I have been getting this error recently. Backups just seem to never complete the cleanup phase, and two hours later I get an email saying the backup failed (though Acronis says the backup succeeded and only the consolidation failed).
I'm currently trying to do clean-ups on that dataset from the Acronis cloud webpages, but it is not clear if anything is happening. Hang on, it says it finished. I guess I'll wait and see what the next backup status returns.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Andrew, I'd open a support ticket. I had a cleanup issue recently as well as someone else in a thread recently. I'll look for it and link it here. I think there is a cleanup problem inin certain situations, but Acronis is going to need to look at these to figure out why.

Heres the cleanup thread.

Not sure if yours is related, but yeah, it could be growing if not cleaning up and failing to backup and or cleanup due to something similar.

Thanks Bobbo.
Will open up a ticket. It does look like the same problem.
I had considered the same "solution" (deleting the dataset and starting again), but would prefer to avoid having to do that if possible.

Yeah, I get it. My data set was so small it was fine, but I'd really like to know what the issue is and why it's happening. Especially since it seems to be happening a bit more frequently than it probably should be.
I just finished my large 600GB push of a new backup and it took 16 days. If this one ever gets messed up (again, happened long ago with this data too), I'm not going to be happy.

I've had this error on my Windows 10 system disk cloud backup for the past two days. One thing I noticed which was mentioned in another thread is that over the past few weeks the cleanup has been taking longer than usual to complete - the backup typically takes 8-12 minutes but the cleanup takes around 30 minutes after that. By contrast the users disk backup (about half the size of the system disk backup) is completing its cleanup in a few minutes.
I wonder whether the "endless incremental" approach that the cloud backups use has hit some kind of limit. The initial full backup was made in January so that's over 4 months worth of incrementals, during which time I installed the Windows 10 1809 update. I'm very tempted to delete the entire backup and see whether starting afresh shows any improvement.

I doubt that the number of times the task has been run will have a direct impact on Cloud cleanup. It is possible that they have been tinkering with the settings of the Acronis Cloud servers in preparation for the release of the ATI 2020 beta which appears to be immanent. However, such tinkering may not have any impact on clean up process.
I have been on the road for the last 3 weeks without a PC (only iPad) so I have not had an opportunity to observe any such behaviour.

After nine successive backups reporting this, tonight's status is "cleanup successful". I assume Acronis have done something at their end.

Looks like I spoke too soon. Since that one successful backup, the others have been getting the "consolidation failure" error.

The support provided me a link to a repair tool, after the repair, I was able to consolidate successfully. Try contact them and give that a shot. Good luck

Thanks for the update. Cleanups were successful for me from 19 June until 10 July when they started failing again. I'll try the support route and see if they suggest the same solution.

This is Barry, not TG.
I have TI2019, Win 7 Pro 64bit backing up to a local drive OR a network share from a win 8 pro 64bit. In ether case, backup succeeds, consolidation runs and runs and runs then fails.. I'm not using Acronis cloud..
Any suggestions???

I changed my backup scheme custom/incremental, ti2019 created a new full and when I clicked backup again, it did an incremental.. so mine is working.. no more cleanup issues..
