Hi Techman,

For #1, I'm not sure if you're asking for a way to stop the backup so you can shutdown without having to wait, or a way to prevent stopping the backup when you shutdown while it's running?  If you could clarify, we might be able to provide some suggestions using a post command... just keep in mind that if you stop a backup while it's running, it will not start off from that point, but will need to start from scratch, so it's not ideal to stop a backup that is in progress.  Instead, schedule it to run at a more convenient time, when possible.

For #2, Acronis prevents the deletion of the existing backup until the next is created as a safety precaution (in the automatic cleanup).  That way, it doesn't delete the only existing backup and then your computer fails while the next backup is happening, or before it can complete, leaving you with no recovery.  Since you have limited space, you would be best served upgrading your backup drive to something that is about at least 3-4 times the size of your original data backup to allow it to work correctly and possibly extend your backup history too.  If that's not possible, the best you can do (currently) is to use the "cleanup versions" option in your backup script and manually delete the existing backup before running the next one.  If you have to do this, you'll like want to stop the automatic schedule of the backup and do the backup manually, after the manual cleanup.

Others have asked for this too - you can submit feedback in the application directly to Acronis as well to add to that list and it might be an option down the road if enough people want it.  For now, I think they want to error on the side of caution and make sure someone doesn't leave themselves in a pickle on accident.
