DVD backups not bootable even with Acronis option saying it should
2 days ago I bought PC Backup & Recovery Acronis True Image Backup 2011 because I needed to rebuild my PC (see signautre for specs). After setting up my PC to a minimal level, I installed and launched Acronis. I started a partition backup of the whole PC toward DVD medias (lots of empty partition). I had set the options to maximum compression and to include Acronis on it. I started the backup and it created 2 DVDs (minimal level is about 23Gb of actual data). I wasted about 5 DVDs until I managed to get it working right (once failed on file not found ???).
I used the automatic validation option but it was working weird : checking only about 20% of the first media then asking for the *.tib file, puting the 2nd DVD and running for 2 min to finally end (progress bar hadn't passed the 30%). It sais my DVD backup is fine.
So I tried booting my PC with the first media in. I did not get detected as a bootable media. So I restarted with the 2nd DVD in. It did not get detected as a bootable media. I do not understand why as I was able to boot with DVDs for the past 2 days (ex: Ubuntu Live CDs).
Why Acronis does't make my DVD backup as true bootable even if I used the options to put all Acronis softwares on it (full, safe, ...) ?
I want to make a full DVD backup first then put up weekly backups on a partition. But if I cannot even have a bootable DVD version ...
Is it a bug ?
