backup speeds again

I do an incremental backup (ATI 2020)... daily and create a new one weekly The first one takes around 4 1/2 hours, incrementals take (typically) 5 minutes but the next full one takes over 7 hours....why is that ?

David, where are you backing up to here?
What options are you using for the backup?
Is this just a plain simple incremental task, i.e. create a new full after 5 incrementals, with no validation being performed of the backup as part of the task?
How many version chains are being kept for this task?

Backing up to WDMYCLOUDEX2100 NAS drive
1 version chain as attached...have given up on splitting the C & D drives now!

David, thanks for the extra information. The only possible reason for the longer time when creating the second full backup would be for performing the cleanup of the old version chain after the second full has been created successfully.
Take a look at the ti_demon and backup_worker logs for the second full backup operation to see if these show any more information?
Note: if you want to have help with the log files, please zip them to retain their original file names as this helps identify them for processing instead of then getting the names that the forum gives them otherwise (like your attached image file).

not quite sure what I am looking for...
The old backup seems to be deleted on the NEXT run....but in any case I cant see why it should take so long and why the network speed is around half

David, the backup worker log just shows that the backup was running for the extended period during which the backup was created.

There is no mention of any cleanup activities during this period, so all the time is taken by the backup operation (7.5 hours).

I think that's pretty much what I thought....so why is it taking so long.....

thanks for looking over these...my network is now all CAT 7 cabled and runs at 1Gb so I dont think there's a hold-up there (!!!)
...so what's going on ?

Thanks for the information about this!
I'm having the same issue with my Acronis 2020 Incremental Cloud backups running for 1+ hours and others running for 7+ hours during the evening. I'm also on a 1GB fiber optic network which should NOT be causing slow downs on my end!
I've been working with Acronis Technical Support on this issue for several weeks and they don't seem to have a clue. I'm changing my upload speed in the Settings/Network from "Maximum" to "1,000Mbps" to see if helps the upload speed to the Acronis Cloud.
Over the last several weeks, Acronis Technical Support has said NOTHING about needing to create a new Full backup after several Incremental backups.
Please provide any help you can.

Steve J, welcome to these public User Forums.
Cloud backups only ever upload a single Full backup when the task is first run, after which there are no further full backups done (unless you effectively replace all the files in the source data selection inbetween backups).
Cloud backups use a delta comparison method to only upload changed blocks of data in order to minimise the amount uploaded, so not really a true incremental in the sense used for local backups. Versioning is also used for cloud backups that is unique to them.

In addition to Steve's comments, if the data is on a mechanical HDD (rather than an SSD) defragging the HDD will result in a much larger backup as the process changes the data in data blocks even though the files themselves have not changed. SSDs should not be defragged; they should have trim applied regularly - this does not move data only 'cleans' bocks with no current data.
