Thread needs solution

ATI 2021 cannot backup system partition. "Access to the file is denied" error appear immediately after process start. 

There is no problem to backup any folders from the same partition.

What exactly are you trying to backup here and what type of backup are you using?

Files & Folders type backup tasks will not be able to backup locked Windows / system files and programs.

Disks & Partitions backup tasks should be used to backup the Windows OS disk drive and partition, where this uses the Microsoft VSS snapshot service to capture locked files etc.

Exactly one partition with Windows 10 (20H2). 

Backup destination is network drive with access granted and correct credentials (checked). 

A message appears a few seconds after the process has started 

After several unsuccessful attempts, a message appears

Of course connection is set up correctly and in the link there is no solution for this problem.

 

This is a case where the log file is needed in order to try to understand what file is giving the error message?

There is a new MVP Assistant log viewer tool that has now been made available by Acronis via the Community Tools page.. 

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.

As I wrote before, I don't have any backups saved before because the error occurs when creating a new one.

Mar Slu, thank you for the backup worker log zip file - this confirms that the access denied error is coming from your remote backup location, not from your local PC.

You need to check the permissions for your user profile being used by the backup task for your network storage device as the error says that user has no access permission to open the backup file need by the ATI task.

The strange thing is that the problem does not occur when backing up folders or files to the same destination network storage device. 

The key difference is the type of backup file involved.  Files & Folders still use .tib files, but Disks & Partitions use .tibx files, which your backup task is not able to open in read/write mode due to the access issue.

What is your destination?  Is it an actual network drive or NAS, or is it another PC?
