TrueImage 2011 Home update from update 1 (build 6597) to the latest update (build 6696) BSOD problem.
BSOD and no Windows after updating TI 2011 Home from build 6597 to the latest. Had to uninstall using cleanup tool and revert to build 6597.
I have to put this on here because for problems encountered more than 30 days after purchase, I get only a paid option to report/request assistance. A pity, but I hope this posting will bring an improvement regarding updates.
The problem is: TI 2011 Home build 6597 worked fine until the automatic update found an update and I clicked the download and install.
It downloaded, installed, rebooted and from then on, constantly and without exception, no windows. I am on a Core i7 with 12 GB DDR3 triple channel RAM, 4 HDDs (SATA2) totaling 4 TB with Windows7 Ultimate - 64bit.
The BSOD gave error 0X0000007F regarding fltmgr.sys with datestamp 4a5bc11f or ataport.sys with datestamp 4a5bc118 or without verbal reference but the same error.
NOTHING helped, in safe mode windows was OK, uninstallation was impossible, but luckily I had Acronis cleanup tool and that uninstalled TI 2011 home.
I reverted to build 6597 and this is what I'm at now. I'm attaching 3 screenshots of the typical BSODs.
There is no other way for me to report this so I'm posting it here.
If it is only me, than updates issued more than 30 days after purchasing should get at least a direct problem reporting tool, EVEN if they're "Home" stuff.
My question to Acronis about this, is: Do you know of this ? Has it been corrected ? Is it safe now to update build 6597 to the newest build ?
Many thanks,
Shai Lasher

Many thanks, Pat L :-)
I have just finished doing that (with an even farther and deeper caution standard):
1. Deleted all backups (*.tib) that were on all HDDs.
2. Canceled all integrations.
3. Deactivated Boot time recovery agent.
4. Canceled/removed ASZ.
5. Uninstalled using the control panel uninstaller.
6. Rebooted1.
7. Used cleanup utility.
8. permanently deleted all contents of the previous installation subdirectory/folder.
9. REBOOTED2.
10. Installed the latest version I downloaded before (extracted the *.msi before installing, so I'll have both the exe and the msi)
11. Created new ASZ and activated Boot time recovery agent.
12. ReBooted3. No BSOD.
13. Again created all tasks from scratch and they are all running now
AND THERE ARE NO BSODs :-)
Thanks for encouraging me to do it, Pat. I had many problems with TI over the almost 10 years I've been using it, and only
REAL tech. support minimized the big problems. When I saw there was no support from Acronis for such problems (unless you're on a "business"
application and bought a support deal or are paying "per incident"), I already started my way "out of the building", but you came along and saved
the day.
Again, many thanks from me here ,
