Acronis True Image 2021

Thread solved

After the install of ATI 2021, loading any apps on my Windows 10 PC became a slow tedious nightmare. MS Office 365 apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook) went from loading immediately to taking 7-8 seconds with heaps of C:/ drive activity. The Acronis Support Engineer tried to blame my PC (Pentium I7, 16GB RAM, 480GB SSD, 2GB 4K graphics card). Disabled Protection Utility - no change. Uninstalled ATI 2021 and any registry references. Apps went back to loading as per normal. Have I blown $75.00 ???

Peter, welcome to these public User Forums.

The key major change with ATI 2021 is the introduction of the new Acronis Cyber Protection features including Vulnerability Scans, and it is most likely that these changes are responsible for the significant performance impact on your system.

There is no option to allow the installation of ATI 2021 without these features but you can take an immediate decision to Turn off all the new protection features as soon as the install allows you to do so.

ATI will try to download protection updates and begin a vulnerability scan straight away but you can still take the option to turn off the protection, including clicking on the Protection > Settings button to stop each individual aspect of these features!

You may still see some lag before all these new activities are truly 'stopped' and there will continue to be background services active / running regardless, but the performance impact should be greatly reduced.
Note: you may wish to do the install and turn off of protection at a time that you can leave the PC to 'do its thing' when you don't need to use it!

The alternative would be to request a refund for your purchase of ATI 2021 if you are still within the 30 days since this was made!

Please see KB 21242: Refund policy for Personal products for information that should help you if you want to request a refund for your recent purchase.

Thanks Steve,

I've removed ATI 2021 and told Acronis (via Amazon) that their product is garbage and requested a refund (via Amazon) asap.

1. this is a purpose built 'work from home' PC and any performance degradation is totally unacceptable

2. Acronis Support trying to 'blame' my PC when this is a known issue is shameful

I will be buying another backup software package this weekend.
