TIH 2011 Error while parsing script file
Trying to view the log file of a backup, it displays "Error while parsing script file". Attempting to auto-access the knowledge base produces nothing. Error code is 0x00900004.
So (1) what is wrong with my log file?
(2) will additional logging continue to create the same errors so that I can never read the log? (there are 5 errors so far for one backup)
(btw, it would be nice if the little pop-up box that sends error info to query the knowledge base had text in it that could be selected so we could cut and paste that info here when posting items).

Hi,
Are there any solutions for that problem? I also experience similar problems (Trueimage Home 2011 #6597 with Win7 Enterprise x64) resulting in the same error message.
I realized that these problems only occurr in case of activated email notification.
thx
regards
Thomas

I too am having that same problem - same errors after upgrading to True Home 11...
I am not able to clone a back up either - if this means that the restore will not work, i'm seriously considering going back to a version of Acronis that i know DID work without any glitches.
I do not have "activated email notification".... so any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
sincerely,
pjs

This seems to be a frequent problem -- so why doesn't Acronis address it? I know that forums readers are volunteers and may not ave answers, but if the problem is common I would expect Acronis software gurus to have suggestions.
I have three sets of "Error while parsing script file" messages associated with my last backup; 3 when the backup started, 3 when it ended and another 3 when it tried to do a verification. I get these errors every time I run Acronis and I can't tell whether the backup was successful (I believe it backed up all the files and folders, but I don't know whether they are all valid).
I attach the log file and I tried to add the xml file generated by AcronisInfo.exe.but this system rejects it.

Sometimes ATI gets confused if you have edited the tasks "too much or too often" (whatever the treshold is :-). The best thing to do is to recreate your backup settings from scratch by following this procedure:
- using windows explorer, copy the archives files you want to keep to another directory, for safekeeping.
- from within TI, delete (not remove) your backup. This will delete your original TIB files, but you have a copy.
- go to c:\programdata\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts or c:\documents and settings\users\public\application data\.... Right click edit on each of the scripts that are left and verify they correspond to working tasks. If not, let us know.
- recreate your task from scratch and try it.

i have many many scripts that are left over from former backups using various versions of Acronis - most of which are no longer applicable as i've deleted the original backups.... some scripts go back as far as 2008. what would happen if i just deleted everything that's in that folder?

If you delete everything in that folder you will lose all the tasks you have set up in ATI.
In any case, delete these files after you have deleted all your scheduled tasks with acronis schedmgr http://kb.acronis.com/content/1859
That's a cleaner approach.
You will have then to reschedule the tasks that you want to keep (ie the ones for which you didn't delete the script)
Also note that if you have a separate validation for a given task, that makes 2 scripts for that task. I am not sure about reserved copies, but I would guess this is another script as well.

Delating script files?
Pat L.
I have the same question as Paula S. I see no reason to keep any of my old setups -- I would be perfectly happy to set up all my backups from scratch, but I am concerned that I might be deleting some critical files. Will that prevent my restoring my existing partition backups? I will be changing computers and OSs (XP to Win7) so I mainly need user files (plus some Application Data such as emails and data for Palm, which is under My Programs). I realize I would lose the scheduled backup scripts but I don't mind recreating those. Will anything else go wrong if I delete the tasks? And do I just delete the *.tib.tis and *.tib.log files -- what about the *.xml, *.opt, *.ctr files. (You spoke of deleting files in "that folder" -- which folder in particular?) At this point might it be best to just reinstall Acronis Home 2011?
Thanks for your help.

Sorry, I mispelled the path for XP. I am regularly using win 7 now, and I got confused. I just verified on an XP machine.
c:\documents and settings\all users\Application data\Acronis\TrueImageHome (application data is a hidden folder)
If you decide to upgrade XP to Win 7 in place, I recommend you remove ATI first, then use the cleanup utility, then upgrade to Win 7 and reinstall ATI on Win 7. You will have your backup archives in place.
Watch out! If you delete your tasks in ATI you will delete the corresponding archives.
If you decide to start from a clean slate on the same OS, here is the best way to go about it, short of a complete uninstall/cleanup/reinstall.
This procedure will not delete your archives. It will delete your backup tasks only.
- download Acronis Schedule Manager: http://kb.acronis.com/content/1859
- using administrator privileges, start a command prompt. Launch schedmgr. Type "TASK ZAP". Close the command prompt
- go to the scripts folder. Delete all the scripts.
- go to the database folder in Acronis\TrueImageHome. Delete all the files in there (one or 2 xml files)
- restart ATI and set up your tasks.

Success!!!
After several weeks of running around in circles with tech support, I've now got Acronis True Image Home 2011 working without the "Error while parsing script file" errors in the log.
The solution was to completely uninstall ATIH (directions below) and then re-install the product.
As per Ashok at Acronis, here are the steps to follow:
There are few troubleshooting steps which you should follow sequentially to uninstall and reinstall Acronis software successfully. Please do not break the sequence of the steps provided below otherwise you might find an error again.
1. Un-install Acronis software from your system.
Click on Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs-> Select Acronis True Image Home and Click Remove Button and follow the instructions mentioned on the wizard.
2. Please download Acronis clean up utility and run it to remove the Acronis traces from your system:
http://kb.acronis.com/content/14871
3. Please ensure that the below Services are started and the Startup type is set to Automatic:
Click Start -> Run and type in ‘services.msc’. Press enter. Select the following services one by one and check if they are started. Right click on them and go to the properties to set to automatic in Startup type.
1. COM+ Event System.
2. COM+ System Application.
3. Distributed Link Tracking Client.
4. Distributed Transaction Coordinator.
5. Windows Installer.
4. Restart your system.
5. Install your licensed copy of Acronis True Image Home 2011 home.
Worked for me.... I was able to "clone back up settings" and do a full backup without any errors. :-)
Hope this solves your problems too!!

I fixed my problem a while ago right after my first post, before I saw your last post. But all I did was uninstall Acronis 2011 and reinstall Acronis 2011. No special cleanup required. Seems to be working fine now. Anyone know what the cleanup program was for? There were dire predictions in this forum. In the Acronis notes it says to use the cleanup program if the usual control panel method does not work. Well, it worked. So far....
When I tried to do a mount or to examine my backups, it said it had no record of those, obviously because all tasks were removed. But so long as I told it which backup files I was interested in (using "browse") it worked fine. Setting up a backup everything task is hardly worth mentioning as a reason not too do a simple reinstall.
