1TB Sata 3 Hard Drive to 128GB SSD?
I currently have windows 7 64 ultimate installed and office 2007 which are both validated on a 1TB HDD.
I have created various backups at different times such as after validation of windows, then office, or before installing something with known install problems like roxio emc 2011 on a separate backup hard drive (E:) and would like to boot windows in future from the SSD and just use the 1TB Sata 3 drive (currently C:) as an install drive for all my other programmes etc. I don't want to clone the C: drive and all the software programmes currently installed as my new 128gb SSD isn't big enough.
Will I simply be able to boot from a restore cd and install the backup containing just the validated win7 64 and office 2007, and use that as my boot C: drive. Or, is there something obvious I'm missing? Thanks in advance for any help.
Jim

Thanks for your comment. I didn't really think to uninstall any programmes but I guess that's one way of shrinking the backup size.
What I've decided to do first is keep everything installed as is now and format the ssd with the win 7 install disc. I'm then going to try to re-install from the early win7 - office 2007 TI20111 backup which are both validated. I would install from scratch but this validation stuff doesn't always work when you re-install, then you have to start phoning for codes etc. I put the ssd into a hd caddy and win7 can see the drive but I can't do anything with it? All the options are greyed out.
I'll post back how I get on.

If you restore with the disk signature, you may just be fine with activation.
