Transfering Apliations and data from Wndows 10 machine to a new Windows 11 machine

Thread needs solution

I am expecting delivery of a new Dell desktop running Windows 11.  I want to migrate all my applications from my windows 10 machine to the new Dell.  Is my Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office software capable to d this or do I need to purchase a different third party program?

Hi Myron,

welcome to Acronis forums! Please refer to 19296: Acronis Products Cannot Be Used to Transfer Applications to Different System or Upgrade OS that deals with your specific question about transferring programs and Windows User configuration settings and to https://forum.acronis.com/comment/407596#comment-407596 for more tips on how to accomplish your migration.

Hello Myron!

There aren't really any 3rd party programs that can migrate arbitrary programs to arbitrary OS versions in the general sense. Even when there are they are usually out of date, or specific to a particular program.

You are better off having both system available until you migrate each of your applications to the new one. Migrating to new OS versions is a pain [.]

You could try to backup up both systems in full,  restore the win10 system to the new dell, then upgrade to win11 inplace and reactivate with the licence you have for it. You'd still have to check each app you use though, as they might not work at all on win11.
