Acronis OS Selector does not see my CD ROM "pre boot".

Hi, I am running the Full version of Disk Director and OS selector. At present I only have Windows7 OS loaded and running.
I would like to load Debian linux.
I have a CD from which I can boot linux and load additional Debian files from the network.
I set my PC to Boot from the CD ROM in the CMOS Setup but, on boot, Acronis OS Selector takes control. A window opens up and asks me what OS I would like to boot. Since I have only Win7, that is the only option.
I try to select the CD Rom to boot from (the disk is there...actually it is a DVD but I hope that does not make a difference) but no menu in OS selector (this is pre boot) sees the CDROM, so I can not select it to boot from. I only can boot from the HDD because OS Selector does not See the CDROM.
Any ideas?
Thank You
Tom

Mudcrab,
Thank you for the reply. I am running the full paid version of DD but I am at work and do not remember if I just downloaded the online installation or received a CD with the ISO image on it. Can I burn a bootable DD image that would do as you suggest?
I'm not sure of what you mean by "set the partitions how they need to be for CD Boot". I already have a linux swap and an ext2 partition. It is just that there is no OS on them at this time. I beg your indulgence to please clarify this for me. I know that I can set the PC itself, throught the CMOS setup, to choose a partition from which to boot. But you seem to be implying that a partition can be set to boot from a CD. Is this true.
Thank you most sincerely
Tom

Tom,
You can create the DD CD using DD or you can download the DD ISO file from your Acronis account and create a CD from it.
By set the partitions how they need to be for CD Boot I just meant to make sure any partitions are configured correctly for installing the new OS. As an example, if you were installing Windows, you would probably want the new Windows partition set Active and any other Windows partitions (existing installations) set hidden. This then allows Windows to install its booting files into the new Windows partition.
The main thing is just to verify that the partitions are set as needed/desired for the new OS installation before booting to the OS installation CD/DVD. Since you can't set these options in OSS, you need to do it manually with DD. Otherwise, the drive will be in the state of the last boot-up from OSS, which may not be what you want.
