Thinkpad can restore, but can't boot with True Image
My Thinkpad x201t comes with three partitions (system_drv, windows7_os, lenovo_recovery) on the hard disk. I used Acronis Disk Director to shrink partition windows7_os and create a new partition called my_data, now it has 4 partitions like this (system_drv, windows7_os, my_data,lenovo_recovery). After this change, the Lenovo ThinkVantage/R&R still works well.
Then I used Acronis True Image 2010 to back up partition windows7_os as a file, win7.tib, on my_data partition. When I recover windows7_os partition from the file win7.tib, it succeeds, but it cannot boot.
I believe True Image changes the hard disk MBR during recovery. Is there solution for this issue? Thanks.

There is not any surprises for me - I have already been stunned by this ATIH feature. So try just when restoring - obligatory to check the option like "Restore the MBR". Otherwise you will get the cold brick.

Yes, I just found we need to check two options: 1. the partition to be restored, 2. "MBR and Track 0". Thanks.

Beichuan Yan,
If you are still looking for solutions, check to mark sure the correct partition is the partition is active. Your backup made before the change will show which partition was the correct active partition. Your last restore may have made the wrong partition active. In many of the Lenova setups, the 100 mb system reserved partition is the first partition and is the active partition.

Dear GroverH!
Choosing partitions to restore in ATIH on Lenovo automatically works greate. Beside the fact that hidden system active partition is marked as C:\ drive...
The problem is that on Lenovo if you don't opt to MBR restore - you recieve the cold brick. Rather strange. Looks like "May I order a cup of tea?" "Here you are, Sir" "But where's the water?!" "But you have not ordered it!!!"

Finally I figured it out. It is Acronis Disk Director which causes this issue. Here is what I did: I used Lenovo Rescue & Recovery to restore the whole disk to the factory status from recovery media, then I used Windows built-in Disk Management to shrink the volume and make a new partition. Now True Image works like a charm, it can restore and boot automatically, no need to check "MBR and Track 0" for restore.
