Can I change a Plan's password?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

Fyi, I'm running v10 Update 3 here.

Today I needed a file off a full backup. In Windows 7 Explorer, I noticed that I could click all the way through the tib file to the file that I needed without being prompted for a password.

I thought that when I created the Plan that I gave it a password. It seems that when we create a Plan, that we only see the Archive Protection option the first time when the plan is created.

Btw, I also see the Archive Protection option at any time in the Default Backup options.

Question 1: Is there a way to change the password of an existing backup plan?

Question 2: If the password in the Archive Protection option in the Default Backup options is changed, does that also change the password in an existing Plan?

Thanks,
Bret

1) No. This item in backup plan options is visible only during creation and only if the archive is empty - if you try to create new backup plan specifying an existing archive, you can't specify the password.
2) No. Changing default options has no effect on existing plans/policies.

Yes, you can change a plan's password:

1. Select the plan by clicking on it once with your cursor (this will highlight the selected plan).
2. Select the edit button in the menu (picture of a pencil).
3. In the "Edit Backup Plan" screen under the "General" select "Change'
4. Enter the new password (for your server or computer)
5. At the bottom of the screen, click the "Save" button.

The OP asked about archive protection/encryption password, not account credentials the plan runs under.
