How to create custom recovery partition/dvd

Thread needs solution

My computer is custom built. Im trying to make either a custom recovery partition or dvd (preferably a dvd) to have in case I need it. I've played around with True image 2011 and couldn't figure out how to do it. I just want it, so I have save my OS with all drivers and possibly some updates save so I can run it when I need to. I need to be able to boot off the dvd's and be able to run them. Or boot from recov partition is necessary. I want be able to restore the whole OS like a big manufacturer would have it. I'd also really like to not have to have the program installed already and do it thru that. I just want to boot straight off the dvd's and recover no problem. Im sure there's a way to do this, or at least something really close to it. Thanks!

Jack,

I think you just need to create a disk and partition backup of your main system disk, including ALL partitions.
You could store this backup on a DVD and make the DVD bootable, but DVD has not proven very reliable with 2011.
You could store your backup on a big USB flash drive (not a USB disk drive), and make it bootable, but this can be expensive.
You could store your backup on a regular USB disk drive and boot from the CD to do the recovery. That's by far the most reliable method.

To to the backup, you can use the bootable CD. The CD on which Acronis may have been sold to you is bootable. You can and should create one also after you install ATI, or you could download the bootable media ISO from your account after you registered there your license number.

This way, you will be able to create a "prime" image of your system and keep it for posterity.
