NOTE that TI Home 2011 Cleanup Utility damages other Acronis products installed as well

Thread needs solution

Perhaps this is well known in the Community. But, it sure was not known to me when I lost my Acronis Disk Director Suite V10.0 while "cleaning" a failed TIH 2011 install.

In all fairness, the KB Article 14871 on the Utility does have a line in it that warns you of this, albeit in the text and not prominently at the top. But, the actual menu screens the product presents simply asks you, "Do you want to uninstall Acronis products from your system? [y/n]"

I hesitated when I saw that prompt, not sure if entering a "y" would immediately corrupt or uninstall ALL of the 8 listed Acronis products or simply be followed by another prompt, allowing you to select the Acronis product that you wanted uninstalled.

I decided it was the later, since I thought that it was really unlikely that a program would corrupt or delete multiple programs on your system without making it crystal clear that it was going to do so. You can see the result in the attachment showing two screen sequences, one before entering "y" to the prompt and one after...you make the call.

It's somewhat unfortunate that the diff progs are enmeshed inthe registry in a few places. Otoh, you can start up install and selct the repair option or do a reinstall of the progs you want. Not a tidy situation but salvagable.

Normally, to uninstall, you would go through Windows control Panel Progam manager and that would leave the other Acronis progs untouched.
