Full backup created 19 TIB files

Thread needs solution

Product: Backup and Restore Advanced Workstation 10

I did a full backup for the very first time and expected a single TIB file... instead I got 19 of them. They aren't capped at a 4Gb size limit, as one file is 33Gb in size... so that's not the reason. The names are of the form:

Archive(1)_yyyy_mm_dd_hh_mm_ss_mscDx.TIB

The "Dx" is suspicious as I'd have expected an "F" for "Full". Did the software somehow get confused and create some sort of differential backup? And differential to what?

I did nothing special in setting the job up... just a "simple" full backup to an NAS device.

Please advise.

D stays for Disk here. What do you see in vault view under this archive - is there one full or full plus incrementals/differentials? Does these files' total size correspond to the amount of data backed up (in the same vault view)&

The sum of the sizes of the 19 files is equal to the size of the data on the disks backed up. I can mount and browse the contents. So it appears that the backup worked successfully. I don't know how to differentiate full vs. differential vs. incremental backups based on file name... the only thing which should have been there was a single full backup.

So the backup worked, still... why 19 files? I'm a bit anal... I'd prefer one file for some stupid reason... or at least clarification as to why 19 were created. Could it be the result of a spotty connection to the NAS device to which the data was being written? I have seen evidence that the connection drops (for credential reasons, not "visibility"). Thanks in advance.

Hello Mark and dev-anon,

Thank you for posting and I appreciate your help dev-anon.

Mark, let me provide you with additional assistance please.

You are right, most likely this issue is caused by a spotty connection to the NAS but without diagnostic information it is difficult to say this for sure.

Would it be possible for you to collect wireshark logs while running the backup and send it to our Support team?

Please include the AcronisInfo report too.

If you need additional help please let me know.

Thank you.
