ATI2011 6597 on Win7x64 keeps telling me that my drive is running out of space

Thread needs solution

ATI2011 6597 on Win7x64 keeps telling me that my drive is running out of space, when there is plenty of space to complete the current operation.

This is a very serious bug as it completely negates the usefullness of scheduled backup. ATI2011 is currently crippled because of this and it seems this issue has been around for a long time.

It is also semi random, happens sometimes then doesn't.

It causes scheduled backups to randomly not run, as you are often not there to click the continue button. Since "infinate timeout" is "not recommended" and there is no setting to disable this warning, ATI2011 is BROKEN. You think your system is protected but it isn't unless you babysit.

This issue has already caused data loss for me (fortunately small). It is the worst problem I have encountered with ATI I have encountered and I have been using this since almost the beginning.

This "feature" needs to fixed ASAP or we need to be given the option to disable it. It was crazy that this feature was ever included in ATI without the ability to disable or configure it. It is the worst blunder I have experienced with Acronis.

What this "feature" needs to be acceptable in ATI2011

1) The ability to completely shut it off
2) The ability to set it so it only triggers if the current operation won't succeed due to insufficient space
3) The ability to set the default action when the trigger fires, and the timeout expires due to possible low disk space as: continue, abort.

Without this it should never have been included in ATI2011 and instead backups should have been gracefully allowed to fail due to insufficient disk space.

YOu need the space for at least one extra backup. IF you are set up to keep say, 7 full backups, then yo need to have diskspace for at least 8 -- ATI makes anew backup before deleting any older backups -- this is to ensure that ATI doesn't delete any backups in the event that a new backup fails.

I have the same problem doing incremental backups to a 1TB drive with 490GB of free space. Sometimes the scheduled backup will fail with a bogus "out of disk space error" and sometimes it will succeed. When it fails, I start the job again manually from the interface and that always works. The failure always happen with the scheduled task.

It's very frustrating. It fails randomly. It will backup fine for 2 days, fail on day 3, but be successful on day 4.

Hello all,

Thank you for your comments, and for reporting about the issue, I really appreciate it.

It looks like the problem is related to some scheduler glitch. In order to localize the issue, please follow the below instructions:

  1. Download Acronis Scheduler Manager. Open command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd); run schedmgr.exe and issue the following command:
    task zap
This will erase all traces of the tasks.
  2. Update Scheduler as mentioned in this article
  3. Reboot the machine
  4. Recreate the tasks

This should resolve the issue faced. Should it persist, please provide us with Acronis Info from machine in quesiton.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

I have run schedmgr.exe, and got "inst=den start=yes loc task=0-0" on the following prompt line. On the line, I typed "task zap", but nothing happens.

JY Lee,

Your action should have caused the deletion of all your backup tasks.
At the same prompt, You can confirm their absence by typing from the same prompt

Get List

The reporting results should be one or none.

Now you can use the program to recreate you backup schedule tasks.
