Can I disable The F11 Boot Screen?

Thread needs solution

Win XP home, sp3, Avast AV, Outpost FW.
Acronis TI Home 11.0 (build 8,101), Secure zone installed.
Acronis Disk Director 10.0 (build 2,160).
Is there a way to undo the activation of the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager? I would like to revert to the old boot sequence which did not show the F11 option at every start.
I have read quite a few posts.
I have tried to use the "Tools - Activate Acronis Startup Recovery Manager" to change from "Activate..." to "Do Not Activate..." from within the software. That doesn't work. Still boots to the F11 screen first.
If I just uninstall and then reinstall Acronis TI home will the changes to the mbr be gone? Will the F11 screen stop showing at startup? Will the Secure Zone be gone?

I'm asking these questions before doing anything because it looks like those options might interfere with booting up.

Thanks in advance.

If de-activating the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager did not work then the easiest way to disable the F11 prompt is to replace the MBR on your disk with a generic Microsoft MBR. You can do this with a Windows XP installation CD by following the instructions for Option 2 in this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058

When you are in the recovery console at a command prompt, enter the command fixmbr

Thank you for the quick and informative reply. Had hoped to avoid that, but I'll do it.. Will post back how it goes. Thanks again for helping with an old version running on an old OS. :-)

It worked. Fixing the MBR was different for this machine. HP provided a "Recovery Tools CD". It will access the Recovery Console, where there is a fixmbr command which worked. Requires considerable courage to run it, just shut your eyes, cross your fingers, and press "enter". :-) But it worked.

Thanks again, Mark.

Works every time. Congrats!
