How to Delete a file/folder within an image file?

Thread needs solution

Good morning all,

I'm regularly using Acronis TrueImage in order to create image backup files.

However often I ned to delete the files/folders within those image files but apparently there is no support for this task under Acronis TrueImage since everything seems managed by the Windows Explorer features that does not allow this kind of operation.

I'm using Windows XP Pro SP2 x64 and XP Pro SP3 x86.

Any suggestion, please? Thank you.

Jean

I don't know about the current version but the method used to be:

Mount the image as read/write. Delete the files/folders. True Image will then create an incremental that will reflect your changes which means the deleted files/folders are still in the original image but restoring the image and the incremental will not cause them to be restored.

Perhaps backup consolidation might make a new archive without the files and folders. I'm out on a limb with this advice, since I don't do image modifications or consolidations and don't use TI2011.

Seekforever is correct even with TIH 2011.

However, mounting will only work with full disk or partition images, if you have made a files and folders backup you will need make a new full image and then delete the image that you no longer require via the TIH interface.
