Upgrading to ATIH 2012 when released

Thread needs solution

I just bought a computer and I was contemplating purchasing ATIH 2011. It appears that ATIH 2012 will be released soon. Would it be better for me to wait for the upcoming release, or would Acronis supply a free upgrade to people who purchased ATIH 2011 in August?

I really need the software now, but would hate to have to pay for it again next month, when the new version is released..

Hello Zookeeper!

Thank you for your questions and sharing your concerns with us.

Currently the upgrade policy, planned by Marketing team, is the following:

if you purchase ATIH2011 at the reduced price, you will be able to purchase the upgrade to 2012 later. In summary the price should be equal to the full price of the ATIH2012, and there will be no price difference between "discounted ATIH2011 + upgrade to ATIH2012" or "full ATIH2012" purchases.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

Hola:

There is no grace period?
Do you change your upgrade policy since ATIH 2011?

13555: Upgrade Policy for Acronis True Image Home 2011
http://kb.acronis.com/content/13555
Acronis True Image Home has a standard 30 day before the new version release free upgrade policy. This means that if you purchased Acronis True Image Home 2010 from an official outlet between July 23 2010 and August 23 2010 at full price, you are eligible for a free upgrade to Acronis True Image Home 2011.

If you wait for ATI2012, then you might want to wait for a few months after release to be sure any bugs are worked out. IOr at least wait a few weeks and see what comments are being generated onthe forums. I'd advise this for any new version of any software.

Hi simplicissimus and Scott,

Thank you for your comments.

Simplicissimus, no, this part hasn't changed. It refers to the case when you purchase ATIH2011 at the full price, not a discount.

In case you have purchased previous product version within 30 days before release at the full price, you receive a new version for free, thus you pay $49.99 for 2011 and 2012 versions.

In case you purchase previous product version within 30 days before release at the discounted price, you can purchase the upgrade, and thus you will be paying $49.99 for the 2011 and 2012 versions.

In both cases the price is the same.

At least this is how it was last year. We haven't received any info from the Marketing team regarding the upgrade policy of 2012 yet, and believe that they are not planning to make any changes. However I cannot grant it. Anyway I'll keep you posted, and let you know in case we get any news.

Sad to say, but I agree with Scott. It's always better to wait for the Update 1 after the release, though according to the statistics, the release build is going to be stable. Anyway it's a common IT practice: when new product is out, it's better to wait for the first update.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be glad to address them.

Thank you.
