ATIH 2012 boot from usb
Hello
I'm having issues booting from a usb drive. I can select the drive and get to the next screen where i can select the full version. I then get the ATIH 2012 splash screen for about 1 minute then a blank screen with flashing cursor and then nothing at all.
It was the same with 2011 before the free upgrade. I don't seem to be getting much help from Acronis so i thought I'd try here. Grateful for any help.

Hi Mudcrab and thanks for responding. Its a relatively old (2004) hp desktop A640.uk.
Ive tried unplugging all usb devices with no joy, as well as using different usb ports front and back. I've not tried it on another pc yet, will give it a go tonight.

Ads,
Is it a USB drive or a USB flash drive?

Just tried the usb stick on an old dell laptop and it loads ok ( messed up graphics but just readable). So at least i know that bits ok. Now i just need to get it working on the machine i need it working on. When the splash screen goes blank the fan on the pc switches off and the monitor goes into standby. Not sure if thats helpful or not.

Does the regular TI 2012 CD work on the system?
Have you tried using an older version of TI on that computer? For example, TI 11 or TI 2009.
Does a current Live Linux CD (Ubuntu, Knoppix, etc.) boot and load okay on it?
It's possible that the Linux kernel no longer includes the drivers for that system. They tend to remove the older ones as they add newer ones.
You could try specifying the acpi=off noapic Linux parameters when creating the boot media and see if it helps. You can find more details on this in Section 8.2.1.2 of the manual.

Ok, tried your command parameters and no joy. Tried again with the new bootable media with ask=vga and it works, even if i dont select a mode and just plough on. (didnt work before).
Strange. Thanks for your help and no thanks to Acronis for not helping.
