Acronis True Image Home upgraded to build 6131 and won't activate

Thread needs solution

I had the full version of Acronis 2011 and upgraded to 2012 when it was released. Last week, it automatically prompted me to upgrade to TIH 2012 build 6131. The upgrade went south and prompted me to manually remove the old version of TIH 2012. I used the Windows 7 tool and removed TIH 2012. I then re-installed the TIH 2012 trial version.

Now, the trial version is prompting me to enter the serial number. When I enter my TIH 2012 serial number, it tells me that I have entered an upgrade serial number and prompts me to enter the serial number of my previous product. I then enter my TIH 2011 serial number. When I click on the "Activate" button nothing happens. I can tell that the button is allowing me to click on it, but I see no changes to the window at all.

I have spent a couple of days on and off the phone with Acronis tech Support with no luck yet. We also tried using the Acronis software removal tool to remove all trace of Acronis TIH. I did a fresh install of TIH 2012 and still have the same issue.

Any help resolving this would be greatly appreciated. I am running Windows 2007 Proffesional SP1 64 bit.

Thanks

Have you tried running a repair install and re-entering your serial numbers?

Hello Dale and Colin,

Thank you for your posts and thank you for your help Colin.

Dale, I will do my best to help you with this issue. I checked the case and we are currently investigating this issue. I have followed-up with the Support representative working on the case as well.

Could you try manual activation and get back to us with the results? Please check the following article and perform the second step from the Solution section: If the new computer is not connected to the Internet.

Looking forward to your reply and if you have additional questions please let me know.

Thank you.

Colin, I did try the repair and it made no difference.

Anton, The example that you provide must be from an older version of TIH? I have Help / Upgrade to Full Version. When I select that option, I get this screen (see atachment...). When I click Activate, nothing hapens..

As you can see in the screenshot, I have no internet connection, but I am not getting prompted to activate from another computer..

I wouldn't advertise my serial number in the open like that if I were you. Others can definitely botch your activation now.

I am having the same problem:

I have just bought the upgrade (stupidly without reading this forum first!) and already have issues. Firstly, on my initial install last weekend, the software wouldn't accept my previous serial number. So I succesfully installed as a trial and updated to full version from within the program. Then, after backing up the PC I deleted some files and though 'ah, I have acronis backup, I'll just restore them' No such luck. When I browsed the backup and tried to get the files back I got an error. So, after reading posts about this error I tried uninstalling and re-installing yesterday. I got a message to download new version, which I did, and installed that. Once again, my old serial was not accepted, so I used the trial serial to install. Worked. Then I went to 'Enter serial' and entered my new and old numbers. So far so good. However... Now the 'activate' button is not doing anything. I can click it and click it over and over, and it highlights blue and responds, but absolutely nothing happens?? Only the cancel button works, which is no help.

What is going on? I can't believe software this buggy is released onto the market? I now realise just how fantastic and lovely 'Time Machine' is on my mac. No wonder people hate PC's with a vengeance..

I'm just off to try and do a file recovery with the new trial installed and hope that someone here can fix my problem with the activate button before I too start a dispute to get my money back.

Thanks
Roger

edit: OK, on the plus side, I have just succesfully managed to restore a file, so that at least is working. Now if only I can activate the software.... oh, and I can't try the 'move license' trick from another machine because I don't have another PC machine. (thank god)

I've also posted this issue in the 'installation issues' thread in case it gets solved there

I've the same problem. I've tried to activate the product with my upgrade serial for 2012 and the previous serial for 2010, TI10, TI9, TI8 and TI6. None of these keys are working. If I push the activate key there is no activation. It's a pity that this is the second disappointment of version 2012 after the massive NAS problem. My confidence in this product is getting smaller and smaller. Too bad.

Same problem here, I've already posted to a couple of other threads so I won't repost the full message here. But exactly the same issue. What gives!?!?

There is an Acronis activation web link, which I don't have to hand, but will post when I get home.

**edit***
At home now :) try this link

Unfortunately, there appears to be no hope for AH 2012 at this time. I have already tried this with no luck. I also had to go a couple of days with no working USB ports thanks to the buggy software. I finallly found a user with clear instructions on how to remove the software, then how to clean all traces from the registry, so that I can at least have a fully working laptop.

The AH 2012 software edits the registry upper and lower filters for the hard disk and volume and causes the USB ports not to work - along with some other possible issues.

Because of the slow support from the Acronis team and the many issues that so many other users are having with AH 2012, I am not going to re-install it. It is simply not worth the risk and ashame that Acronis can't make this right.

I am going to go ahead and purchase NOVA Backup for now and move on.

I truly appreciate the help from other AH usrs. This is dissapointing to say the least.

Add me to the list. We're having the exact same problem with this. When we type in our serial, it asks for the previous version serial. After entering the previous version serial, clicking the Activate button does absolutely NOTHING. This makes this software completely useless, at least once the 30 day trial is over... This is pretty bad honestly... I purchased 2011, and had nothing but problems with it, so I went back to my "grey market" copy of TIH 2010. I was using a "not-so-legit" copy of Acronis 2010 for a while, and found that it worked great, so I decided to support the development by purchasing the newest version at the time - 2011. Now, I'm attempting to upgrade to 2012 and it's given me nothing but problems... This is really bad Acronis - you NEED to get this stuff fixed... I'm back to using my grey market copy of 2010 until this is fixed. Please - PLEASE get this taken care of!!!

UPDATE: I was able to activate it - FINALLY. Ended up having to uninstall the software completely. Upon re-installation, I typed the new key in during the install and also the 2011 key when it requested. It works OK during the install, it just won't work after installing in trial mode!

Either way - this is a bug that needs fixing.

Today I updated 2011 and installed acronis true home 2012. As is turns out I have to activate the program, BUT THE ACTIVATION BUTTON IS DEAD, it won't work.

I have paid for a non-working update.
Money back, please!
I'll place comments on Dutch consumer sites.

Here, too, activation doesn't work.
I tried the above link and first inserted my fresh 2012 code, to no avail... I then inserted my 2011 code, but it didn't work. The codes are considered invalid, although the 2012 code and the plus pack code are clearly stated in today's Acronis update mail.
Last year I had the same problem.

By the way, this year, after a horrible crash of my W7pro 32bits computer, NONE of my numerous backups could be recovered by Acronis.
I had bought Acronis thinking I was safe, but I lost everything ...

Help, please, as the new 2012 version will expire after 30 days.

You should contact customer service or chat to request refund. There's nothing us volunteers can do for you in that regard.

Hi,

I'm really disappointed with this version, I cannot activate it, as many people here.

I can't even uninstall it. This piece of software is worse than a virus !!
It's a shame to sell such a buggy program.
Be sure it was the last Acronis Software program that I'll ever buy.

If you can't help me getting this stuff installed, please refund me.

A very angry customer who was very happy with True Image Home 2010.
