I cannot remove True Image 2012 and reinstall 2011 !

Thread needs solution

Help, i am user of True Image 2011 and i testet out version 2012. After a week of testing i wanted to deinstall it and reinstall 2011 again. But didnt worked for me.
First i get an error that 2012 cannot clearly be removed. Tried to deinstall with windows 7 softwaremanager.

Than i downloaded True image 2012 removal/cleanup tool from acronis and removed it finaly.

After rebooting i tried to install 2011 but i get an message that 2012 isnt removed.

I also tried to remove acronis entries in registry. not helped. What can i do ?

It's almost certainly detecting some registry leftovers. Even the Acronis cleanup tool can sometimes miss some. BUT BE VERY CAUTIOUS about removing anything manually from either your registry or your \Windows\System32\Drivers\ folder. You could end up in a "blue screen" death trap that way.

In the circumstances, your best initial step would be to reinstall TIH 2012 by downloading the latest release installation package. Close all other applications, right click that package's executable file and select "run as administrator" from the drop-down menu. If it detects a previous installation, you may need to select its repair option. Once you have a successful TIH 2012 installation, you can try again to uninstall from the Win7 control panel and then run the Acronis cleanup tool.

Ano nym,
Do you have a backup which you created when the 2011 was installed?

If yes, restore the backup so your system will be like it was at time of the backup creation.

Get revounistaller -- it's free and works well. Best, of course, to have a backup of the disk before fiddling. ;) I was a skeptic until I tried it when everything else failed trying to get rid of Nero (almost as recalcitrant as Symantec software).

Also, when in doubt, reboot and try again - espeically with uninstalls.

nothing worked for me.

reinstalling 2012 and trying to deinstall it, does not work. Im getting error that there are no True image compononents to remove. Revo uninstaller cannot find installed true image 2012.

i also have no backup to restore. its 5-6 weeks in the past. Not sinfully to restore. I dont understand why the deinstaller do not work .

it's possible that the prog is removed but the msi is messed up. if so you can run the microsoft installer ncleanup utility and that might fix it so you can install an older or newr version of ati if you still want to. youll have to google for the utilty.

If Revo can't find it you might try to look for the program manually. It was probably installed in the Ptrogram Files directory. You might try that first. If you casn't find it and you are running Windows 7 you might run the search function in Windows Explorer. If nothing shows up there it's probably in the registry. Try a registry program (I don't recommend a manual search in regedit) Before you clean out the found registry items make a backup of the Registry. I can't stress that enough.

Of course if you have a backup from a previous version and the Acronis boot disk you can replace the entire C:\ drive.

You'll lose anything from after the date and time of the backup you have.

Take it slow and good luck

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.

Best regards and good luck

Werner
