Still need System State Backup from Windows?
Hello,
I'm using for a Windows Server 2008 Standard Acronis True Image Echo Server 9.1 for Windows. It works well, but it's really annoying to handle batch jobs to move/remove or whatever old backups. Also, I think ABR 11 is working better and faster. So we want to upgrade to Acronis Backup and Recovery 11.
Now I have a question about the backup of the server. There is an active directory running on it. In this ( http://kb.acronis.com/content/1505 ) article is written that you first take a system state backup by Windows Backup and than create an Acronis Backup. That is a little bit annoying too. Why do I need two softwares to backup my server? The question is now: Do I still need a system state backup by Windows Server Backup or does ABR 11 do all on it's own?
Thanks and a happy new year!

So you mean that Windows Server 2003 and above doesn't need system state backup by Windows Server Backup if I enable VSS support? Also True Image Echo Server 9.1 for Windows runs fine with VSS enabled and doesn't need Windows system state backup either?

At least it's written so in article 1505 point 3. p.s. - there is True Image 9.1 and True Image Echo ( = 9.5 )
