Issue backing up C: (OS drive) (Windows 7 x64 Pro)

Thread needs solution

I am having issues as whenever I take a image of my entire C drive, I get errors. I look at the task and log section and I find that it has issues backing up certain files. Many of the errors are from attempting to backup Norton files. I am using Norton IS 2010. It also cannot backup system volume info. Tag=0xBD28FBD64EDB8B9: None

It also had an issue backing up a file that was in use as it gave the error that "the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

I need a resolution to this as I need backups. Anyone know a solution? I assume Acronis needs to figure out these issues and provide an update.

The simplest workaround would be to boot up the TI rescue CD and make your image using it. In this case, Windows and the apps are not running so you are dealing with a static HD.

The imaging under Windows is tightly connected to the Acronis Snapapi.dll. An update of this, if available, might help.

Thanks for the input. I agree that the workaround will work, but I need this to be a regularly scheduled backup... hence the reason why I purchased it. I appreciate the info, but Acronis still needs to figure something out.

Ditch Nortons blotware............Started buying it in ver 4.5 for dos, quit with 2007. Just kept screwing up over and over. After Peter Norton sold it to Symatec its steadily gone down hill. I suspect that Norton Has something to cause your problem or it is contributing to it. Between that and a possibly buggy Acronis can be a disaster in the making.

What I did to get around this is I excluded the Norton directory (user profile -> application data). Now I am having another issue! See my new post...
