Is V 2012 Faster?
I bought 2011 primarily to clone a couple of discs after my "trial period" ran out. No problems there.
But I then decided to also use it for backup. It is the most abysmally slow software I have seen lately. I have Photoshop and a flight planning program that deals with huge bitmaps of aviation charts. Both are lively compared to Acronis 2011. Noting on my machine even begins to challenge 2011 for the deadly slow award.
I would pop the $30 for 2012 if it is significantly faster, but if it is the same plodding clod then I have no motivation.
Any reports from the real world?
TIA

I would save my money and buy a much faster hdrive- that is more likely to show you a significant speed increase.
If you are backup up to USB3 then if you can change to usb3, that should make a significant improvement although this is not an option on older machines.
IF ati is backing up more slowly than about 1gb per minute, then there is some kind of program interfence or interaction that is causing the slow down. On newer machines ati will operate significantly faster than one 1gb/minute. What limits speed for most folks is usb2 but even with that you should get about 1gb/minute.
If your ati is running especially slow, then you might consider uninstalling and resintalling, first using msconfig to prevent other progs form interfering with the installation of drivers or other program elements.
Also, if you want to play around with misconfig, you might one one program in particular casue ati to run espeically slow. That would at least be worth bringing up with Tech.

Geo, save you money. Whether ATIH2012 is faster would only become relevant if the product actually worked...which it doesn't. Have a look through the forum and you'll find lots of examples of people, incl me, who are having endless problems with this software. Not helped by vague responses from Acronis Support about when fixes will be released.

Thanks all. Sorry about the delay responding. I have been distracted by other problems.
Re speed, I wasn't clear. It is the user interface speed in 2011 that I find so abysmal. Click, wait, wait. Click, wait, wait. Given the gargantuan size of the download, it does not appear that optimization of anything is Acronis' strong suit. But that is why I was wondering/hoping about 2012.
Re working or not, 2011 works well enough for me. I don't actually know if there are backup speed issues as I am backing up a 60gb SSD to an NAS box. Running in the background, the speed is not a concern.

I had a similar prob with ati2010. Determined it was a conflict with a password manager service. They put in a fix for this in ati2011. You can find out if the delay is due to a conflict by using msconfig.exe to stop all non-microsof tservices and all startup programs except the Acrons/ATI. IF the speed is fine runnign that way, then add back services and progs one by one to see which one presents the issue. Then contact Tech about the conflict.

still using ati2010 here - don't see any reason to upgrade.
BTW, when I clone a drive, I have very good results with <Please be informed that link to the third party software are restricted by the Forum Terms of Use:
