Steps to transfer everything to a new computer
Hi,
I'm a total newbie. I have True Image Home 2012 and the Plus Pack.
I purchased a new computer and I want to transfer everyting over from my old computer to the new one. Both computers are Windows 7 64bit. THe old old one is an i5 and the new one is a i7.
I could not find a comprehensive clear explanation on how to do this.
If someone could provide a step by step instructions on how to create the bootable media and then how to use it on my new machine, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Dave

Thanks Scott,
I have looked at both of those links and the steps still seem quite daugnting to someone that has no experience with these things. Perhaps I am niave when it comes to stuff like this. What I was hoping for was a process that would somehow merge the drivers from my new system with everything else from my old system. Then, use that to boot my new system.
I don't what the statement "You have created Acronis Bootable Media (standard, WinPE, or BartPE) after the installation of Acronis True Image Home 2011 Plus Pack;" from that refered post even means.
Any other additional help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

If you read it thorugh and understand it, it's jsut a series fo steps and each step is not difficult. However, if it still seems daunting, they you should probably stick with the simpler method of just installing things afresh on the new system -- it's more tedious but less messy.

I understood from the rather dense instructions that I read that to transfer my True Image Home 2012 program from my old Windows XP PC to my new Windows 7 Pro PC, I should download a copy of the program to the new PC and then apply for the registration to be transferred to the new program, and that the old one would be "cancelled". OK ? Simple ? Read on......
None of the Acronis sites would let me download a "trial" copy. When I clicked on the button the whole page went dark grey !
I tried writing to Support by email from the Support site. This too went dark grey without sending any message, which was lost when I clicked on the page to recover it !
I then downloaded the program as a "trial" from the US site (I'm in the UK) which sent me a registration number. Entering this, I was told that I had only an "update" version, and that I should enter the registration of the program I had updated from.
I cannot remember this so what do I do now ? All I want to do is continue using the program on my new PC before the subscription runs out !
I wish Acronis would do away with all the gobbledy-gook and technical references and help their customers more. There are other programs out there !

Why would you download a trial version?
if you purchased a full 2012 licence, register it at https://www.acronis.com/my/index.html (after creating an account login). Once registered, you can download the latest build of the installer whenever you like.

i have a copy of acronis 2012 . is there any where on the internet or on acronis web site. that have a video on how to use it. seeing a video would be more helpful than reading about how to use it.

I don't know about video, but check out Grover's True Image Guides: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/3426
They are excellent tutorials, illustrated with screenshots, created by a fellow user and forum member.

Ron Luxton,
Did you get your issues resolved? Tuttle is absolutely correct. Once you have registered your serial number from your original purchase, you can return to your main Acronis webpage and download a new copy which can be use to install on your new machine and deactivate the xp copy.
Starting point is the Support button located in upper right corner of this webpage.
Logiin
go o "My Products & Downloads" along the left margin of the login page.

HELLO:
I need your help I have been buying Acronis True image and Disk Director since 2006? I just upgraded to 2012 on True image and plus package & don't plan to upgrade Disk Director. So far I have never made either work the way I understood they would. Perhaps I'm too old... 77...My current problems 1) I have 3 Laptops I simply want to transfer the stuff that is not part of the system to a new 17bt HDD Desktop that has win 7-64 bit installed. Can any one give me a simple step by step of how to do this and then keep it backed up using true image ? I will probably have more questions.
Thank you!
ART?
ps: Two of the lap tops will probably be sent to the bone yard, as one has a non light-up screen and a blue screen I haven't been able to resolve when attached to my TV. Is there a key stroke that could have turned off the screen? The second works but is slower than!~#$%%.
THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP AT ALL
