TIB hone 2011 build 5519 won't update or manually update "another version of this product already exists"

Thread needs solution

I am running 5519 in Win7x64 and I am trying to update it, but the software refuses to let me. I don't want to uninstall my software and lose my configuration data.

The software engrishly reports "the error was encountered while the installation" "Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot be continued. In Control Panel, open add remove programs to configure or remove the existing version of this product."

I tried several different 2011 updates, including 6597 that immediately supersedes my version, and 6942.

Clicking "view log" from the error dialog does nothing.

Any ideas?

My starting point would be to use one of my backups and restore the drive C back to a recent time prior to the update.

then I would un-install 5519 and install 6942.

Another choice but I do not believe it will allow you to do it would be to

Start the install program on 6942 and choose install.
Then choose the repair option.

If nether work, then use the cleanup utility for 2011 found in my signature below.
