Is Acronis true Image Home 2012 usefull when I want it to use with a NAS

Thread needs solution

Hello,
I have two PC's at home with a lot of photo's, films and music and all kind of software.
I have bought a NAS-station with 2 disks of 2 Gb each.
Is True Image Home 2012 the right software to use the NAS as my backup storage on 1 disk and the other disk as an image of the first?
Or do I have to use other software?
Thanks for any answer.
Harry.

Harry,
TIH2012 can be used to, use one of the disks as the Source, and the other as the location for the Backup file .tib.
Consider though that if your house caught fire, or you were burgaled, you would loose both discs.

A more common arrangement would be to RAID1 the two drives (this guards against a single Hard Drive failure), and backup to a Removable USB drive, that you can disconnect and take off site somewhere to guard against fire or theft. You can then become paranoid and have two USB drives and alternate them as Off Site backups, to further guard against a faulty USB Drive.

A word of caution here, and I haven't actually proved this, but, I have seen some posts that talk about recovery from the Linux based recover not being able to see External USB Hard Drives. In which case the Plus Pack is required to build a WinPE Recovery disc. Apparently from that WinPE recovery disc you have access to External USB Hard Drives.

I can confirm, that in My Environment that the Linux Recovery disc is able to see my shared Network storage (A couple of D-Link devices DNS-343, and DNS-323). The point of this comment is that the Linux Recovery disc just happend to recognise my Network Card. I would be guessing that NOT all Network Cards will be recognised. A point to test in your environment.

I'll repeat, I have NOT been able to prove the ability to Backup to External USB Hard Drives, and Recover from them, either with the Linux or WinPE recovery discs. (this is on my list of Jobs to do).

Good Luck
Paul
