Startup Manager

Thread needs solution

Hello everyone,

i use Acronis TIH 2011 on Win7 64bit/prof. One thing that occured to me is that sometimes the startup manager seems periodicallly to switch itself of. What could have caused this. Over the last 2 Years i had this several times - but i never could track it down to a reason...

Greetings!

Does this happen after you perform a restore, update your load manager, or otherwise perform an operation that can update your boot records?

Hello sorry for answering so late,

what do you mean by updating your loader? The BIOS or the bootloader? I don't update BIOS or so. But what could happen is that i used a Restorepoint in Windows. Could that have caused it? If i use a image with acronis where the bootloader is switched on, could this have caused this?

Frank,

If you restore or repair your startup, there is a chance that your boot records is rewritten and that could inactivate your startup manager.

NB: remember that you cannot rely only on the startup manager to restore your backups. YOu have to make sure you can restore with your recovery CD (if your disk dies, the startup manager will be unavailable). You also have to make sure that you include the entire disk when you create your backup: all partitions, even the hidden, have to be in the backup. To make sure this happen, create a disk and partition in disk mode and select the entire disk where the system is).
