High CPU loading
Using ATIH 2012 Build 6131. Since the last update I have gradually noticed my entire laptop grinding to a halt (Vista 32-bit with 2GB RAM, Intel T7200 2GHz CPU). This happens once an hour or so, for a couple of minutes - the machine freezes completely with the HDD light on.
On examination of the Resource Monitor, my suspicions proved accurate - even though there is very little running (basically just Outlook and Google Chrome), the pagefile.sys is hitting 16GB/min write average.
The CPU during this time is loaded at 80 - 90% (even though I am not actually using the machine for anything!). Examination of the process table indicates most of the usage is from TruImageHomeMonitor.exe. Terminating this process solves the problem.
Note that there is no backup running at this time - the backup disk is not even plugged in, and it occurs all day, not just at shcedulaed backup times - i.e. the machine is unusable unless I terminate that process. (Actaually that doesn't get rid of the problem - just improves it drastically - as i have just noticed!).
Further info - the Task Manager shows of 2045MB total physical memory, only 4MB is free. the Resource Monitor shows TrueImageHomeService.exe with a 'commit' value of 1,919,320KB. Something is seriously screwed here.
Looking at this forum, I note there are other people with the same problem, and have been since last November. It appears Acronis is making no attempt to fix it. I have no choice but to deinstall the software and use another solution. It would be good if someone at Acronis could respond to this report - if not I will try it once more in a while and if there is no joy, seek a refund.

Hi, thanks for responding, Scott. No - I am not using sync or nonstop backup. The nonstop backup service was running, even though I hadn't configured it. I stopped the service and changed it to manual start so it's definitely not running - no change - the problem was still there. The only thing actually configured in ATIH is a daily backup at 2:00AM, but this problem was occurring throughout the day, even if the previous night's backup was successful, so ATIH shouldn't be doing anything as far as I know.
At the moment I'm using an antiquated version of EMC Retrospect - works fine, but somewhat limited! My plan was to wait a month or so, reinstall ATIH and see if a new build is available.....

Hi all,
Thank you for your comments.
Scott, thank you for your help.
Martin, Shakal.hh, there might be various reasons for this problem. First of all please make sure that you're using the latest build of Acronis True Image Home 2012: 6154.
If the problem's still present, please provide us with the Procmon log, it should show us what process loads the system. Acronis Info from the problem machine might also be quite useful.
Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!
Thank you.
