Creating bootable media w TIH 2010 - Will boot CD recognize usb ext drive?

Thread needs solution

This issue has probably been addressed in a previous posting, but I'm having trouble finding it. Can someone point me to the right posts re: how to make an external drive usable for restoring an image backup using bootable rescue media? Just concerned that pc that isn't working won't be able to see the ext drive and files located there. Is this a concern or not?

It shouldn't be a concern once you have verified the boot CD can access your USB disk. Only a hardware failure would prevent it afterwards.

If you can boot your PC with your bootable rescue media and see the external drive (go ahead and make a backup to it, and Verify it too) then you should conversely be able to restore from it with no trouble.

FWIW I use ATIH2010b7160-528 with W7x64 and both an external USB3.0 spinner and a USB3.0 flash drive. It all works, YMMV.
