Restored disk image gives blue screen on VMWare virtual machine

I have backed up and restored my work PC on a VMWare virtual machine. When I try to boot the VM I get a blue screen. Unfortunately it doesn't stay on the screen long enough to read the error message. Are there any suggestions as to how I can avoid this? Maybe by modifying the original installation??

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here.

The reason of the blue screen is the lack of drivers: the virtual machine has though virtual but still dissimilar hardware, and in order to successfully restore the image to it you'll need Acronis True Image Home 2012 Acronis Universal Restore. But there's an easier way to achieve this: 

you can convert the backup to the virtual disk as described here. Please note that when a tib image selected for conversion contains partitions, for example, from two physical hard disk drives, the program will create two vhd files corresponding to those physical drives.
