Unsure about plus pack and restoring on different hardware
I currently have ATI Home 2009, and don't have and actually never heard of a plus pack. I was under the impression that ATI restored on different hardware as part of the deal. If I currently have a Seagate HD and it dies and the new drive is a WD then that should not matter, perhaps I was mistaken but that was my impression was all along.
When did this change and is it true that I need exactly the same hardware to get restore to work if I don't have plus pack, if not how does one know the exact circumstances that it will or wont work.
Is there any responsibility required of the user to ensure drivers are included to restore a backup or is this all taken care of by ATI 2012.
Thanks.

Hard drive is excluded from the discussion of different hardware. Brand name change of hard drive is not an issue.
The plus pack is needed if you needed to restore your motherboard or video card as both would need new drivers.
TrueImage will restore your backup to a new replacement disk usually without issues. It is important however, the the type of backup created by the user is a full and complete backup of all partitions on the disk with nothing omitted. Many Windows 7 users are not aware or really sure whether their installation includes any non-lettered disks. The Windows Disk Management graphical view is a good reference to see the partition configuration of your disk and which partition is marked as the active partition. Every partition shown in the Disk Management view should be included within the backup so the user must make sure this happens.

Thank you both for those answers.
GroverH, I was under the impression that if the video card is different that Windows would use the default or select the correct driver for the new card, and I thought that also applied to motherboards. Or are you refering to the drivers needed for ATI to function during the restore process.
Thanks again.
