Cloning Drive

Thread needs solution

Currently I have the following dual boot configuration:

Booting from Microsoft Windows 7 64-Bit Professional

C: WIN7_64 500GB Hitachi Drive
D: WINXP_32 500GB Seagate Drive
E: DVD
F: Backup Drive 2TB conencted via E-SATA

Booting from Microsoft Windows XP SP1

C: WINXP_32 500GB Seagate Drive
D: WIN7_64 500GB Hitachi Drive
E: DVD
F: Backup Drive 2TB conencted via E-SATA

I want to clone the WIN7_64 Drive to the "Backup" drive and then use it in a Tri-Boot Configuration, The HP Elitebook 8560w allows me to pick the drive to boot from during the boot process via a BIOS selection. Each operating system has it's own drive.

If I use the Clone option in Acronis it will change the active drive to be the clone drive under the impression that I want to replace it. I have read the documentation and it appears that if I boot to WINXP and clone the WIN7_64 drive that this will not happen.

What is the recommended procedure?

Robert,
The comunity here at large is intended to provide helpful non-premium based support to end users of Acronis products. I can certainly appreciate what you are trying to accomplish, however this is not an intended function or feature of ATIH. Further, getting the images to boot using your hardware might be possible, but goes beyong the scope of support offered here. I hope you can understand and appreciate this.
