Which MS Outlook Backup option is the correct one to use

Thread needs solution

My initial Acronis backup setup was to first do a full, then incremental backup. The next day, in checking if the backup worked I noticed a folder entitled "Outlook." Which was correct as it contained the necessary *.pst file. I then went back to the Acronis program and noticed an option under "Other Backups" for "Email Backup."

I'm confused. Could you please explain the difference between my original full and incremental backups that that include the backing up of Outlook files and the Acronis backup called "Email Backup?"

Presently I decided to use both options (backing up Outlook in both the daily incremental backup and also in the Email Backup). Do I need both backups or will the incremental backup also capture everything the Email backup captures?

I tried to find the answer in your User Manual but couldn't find the answer I am looking for.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me in this matter.

Gino,

When you do a file backup of a folder that contains a PST file, you will get a huge set of backups because PST files "change" everytime you start outlook, so the entire PST file will be backed up everytime you backup.

When you do an email backup, ATI backs up individual *emails*, not the entire archive files like PST, by accessing directly the email APIs.
