While working on the errors described by my previous post, I noticed that error handling was not behaving according to the default settings in the default backup & recovery options. During the entire process, the current setting of 1 retry after 5 minutes was ignored, producing instead 3 retries with 1 minute in between. Of course, that generated numerous backup archives I did not need, as the errors occurred during replication to the 2nd location in the centralized vaults, after the successful run of the backup task. I temporarily disabled the error handling to see what happened. Error handling continued to malfunction with 5 retries every 1 mute. Something is amiss here.

This of course begs another question. Why is the inablity to access the 2nd location considered an error? There are numerouse legitmate times when that resource is not available, one being forgetfulness. To me, this should be constituted as a warning which does not trip the error handling mechanism. That would save me having to clean up the archives in the 1st location, eliminating unneeded archives.

Alright, I think I need a clarification here. Just what is the distinction between "Error Handling" and "Task Failure". According to the help available in the console, it would seem that the Error options would cover the unavailability of a network resource. However, it is the "Replication" task running within the backup plan that is encountering this unavailability. Both concepts have retry count and time values with the default Backup/Recovery Options, so which set matters?
