I'm not sure what you mean by"it would hand on emails with attachments". In my case, when initiating the backup having selected "Email", MS Windows Live Mail, Windows Contacts, MS Office Outlook", I get the standard message "Calculating", at that point it just hangs.

Howie,
I meant it was hanging on attachments.
Do you have MS Outlook installed?
Did you move the storage folders of Win Live Mail?
The latest build 2011 seems to be working fine with Live Mail on my machine.

Ok got it
Yea, MS OL is is installed.
Storage folders were created in W Live Mail when I moved messages across from my XP machine running OL Express. I didn't subsequently move any of the W Live Mail storage folders that were created on the W7 machine.. I did move messages from the W7 Live Mail storage folders into new folders that I created in W Live mail and I did delete those storage folders that had no messages left in them based on the moves I made to the new folders.
What version of Live mail are you running..as I said before, I'm running W Live Mail 2009 Version 14xxx

I am running W Live Mail 2011.
If Ms Outlook is installed, verify, in the Mail control panel, that you don't have some old profiles left over.

This is a clean version of MS Outlook, it is not being used for email, just calendar and contacts.
Any other suggestions??

Hello Howie, and Pat,
Thank you for your comments.
Howie, we have an article dedicated to the backup process of Windows Live, you might want to check it but keep in mind that the article lists WinLive2011 version. In general: you need to make sure that your account is not IMAP, but POP (IMAP is not supported).
If it still doesn't work, please test how it works with the Acronis True Image Home 2012 trial version, and let me know via PM.
Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!
Thank you.

I am using Acronis Home 2012 with the upgrade pack. I have the same problem. Acronis does not provide the Live Mail folder category of "STORAGE: folders to select. Yes, I have a POP3 account - but, while that permits me to back up the "Active" email folders - I am precluded from backing up my STORAGE folders where I maintain many important emails related to my business.
Can you inform all of us Windows Live Mail users whether Acronis intends to address that situation?
Thanks
Ed

Is there any further news on this yet - as I too am extremely worried that Acronis is not backing up any of my Windows Live Storage Folders. If it cannot do this then presumably its not fit for purpose for Windows Live Customers. I would never have purchased Acronis if I had known it wasn't backing up any of my Windows Live Storage Folders.
Does anyone know if they are they backed up when doing a Disc Back Up rather than Email Back Up? At least that would be something.

If you do a disk and partition backup that includes the partition where your Live Mail folders are stored (typically the C:\System partition, but not always: some users put their storage folders somewhere else), you are good to go.
