Acronis True Image Home - Failed to read from Sector '0' of hard disk '1'.

Thread needs solution

Our company recently purchased Acronis Image Home 2012. It was burned to disk but Acronis will not launch properly when booting from cd. We have tried various CDs and DVDS, using several different burners, and the ISO burns properly, but we get the following errors when loading from boot-up: "Acronis True Image Home - Failed to read from Sector '0' of hard disk '1'. - Retry Ignore Cancel". This error is definitely not related to the local PC disk drives, as it's an Acronis error box, and occurs even with local drives disconnected. We have tried to re-download Home 2012 and attempted a few more images on CD but this message always occurs. Anyone else seen this?

Are you able to boot any computer with the CD?

Just to be sure, we are talking about the bootable media ISO, right?

Hello LobbyGuard Solutions and Pat,

Thank you for your comments and your help Pat.

LobbyGuard Solutions, in addition to Pat's question, could you get back to me with this report please? You can either use the Acronis Report utility if the issue occurs in Windows, or Acronis Report 51 if the machine is unbootable.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

I am having this same problem. Windows 7 64 bit. The system has all eSata drives, even the CD/DVD drives. I make a backup (many actually incrementals). Burn Bootable CD. Slide the working Drive out and put in a new one. Boot the CD into whatever the O.S. is Acronis puts on the CD. Soon I get this error "Failed to read from Sector '0' of hard disk '1'" then the O.S. crashes back to the Bios and re-boots, over and over. No way to run the recovery software. It does not tell you what drive it is failing to read. Could be the CD drive or any one of several hard disks in the system.

Now this was a test to see if I could do a recovery... so I put the working 1 terabyte "C" drive back in, boot to Windows and everything in the system works perfectly... all of the drives.

So what is wrong with the O.S. that comes with ATIH 2012? Just before when using the old and trusty Acronis 11 (Not 2011) the recovery O.S. on the CD has no problem restoring to my new raw hard disks... only the O.S. on the ATIH 2012 seems to not read some drive and crashes.

How do I do a restore now?

Dennis

Failed to read from Sector '0' of hard disk '1'

Updateing this with my experiance building and trying to use the WinPE option just in case someone else see this "Failed to read from Sector '0' of hard disk '1'" topic/problem, which was my original as well...

Well... it just keeps going! I took an hour and followed all of the complex instructions to get the Windows AKI package downloaded and burnt to DVD, then installed the Plus pack and made up the WinPe boot system recommended in the manual. Well it seems this is some sort of cmd.com DOS box based utility that can load a version of Acronis 12 low level Backup and restore utility. I kind of works in that it does see all of the drives/media... but it is very slow and has poor failure capabilities. I tried to restore, it ran for about 45 minute then crashed saying "Operation failed!" in big red letters. No explanation at all of what had happened! Was it a read error? Was it a write error? What do I do now? Tried it a second time with the same results.
I then ran the "Validate Backup" utility and it passed.... So, was it a disk write error since the NAS backup is intact?

Just for grins I decided to try and boot the hard disk anyway, even though the restore had failed after 45 minutes. Guess what? It worked!

Then I loaded the installed Acronis 12 software off of the restore running in Win 7 64 bit, and made it do a third restore using the original Acronis 12... took about 55 minutes but it completed this time with no errors!

So there was no problem with the backup on the NAS drive, no problem with the destination hard drive but the 2 hours to build the WinPE exercise produced a poorly functioning utility that has slim failure capabilities.

What a mess!
.

This following error is preventing a full image copy of my hard drive. Appreciate any assistance or tips on how to proceed

Failed to read from sector '77,441,317' of hard disk '1'.
Failed to read the snapshot. (0x10C45A)
CRC error (0x100155): Retry/Ignore/Ignore All/Cancel

Greetings,
Run a chkdsk /r on the drive prior to performing a back up operation.

I get the same error message trying to clone a had drive. Downloaded ISO boot program from acronis --got same error. Contacted tech support twice--Tech support concludes there are too many bad sectors on source drive. Ran chkdsk/r and manufacturer's diagnostic software on drive--drive passed--boots, loads programs and works(the drive not Acronis TI Home 2012). Is there a work around?

James,
It would appear that your disk is still "flagged" which is a term used to describe a condition where data integrity is in question. A chkdsk where the /r switch is used can often resolve these issues (depending on the overall health of the disk), but in some cases other problems can still exist. Would you mind posting a current system report for us to view please.

There is a checkbox, you know, that says "ignore disk errors". If you check that off, the restore will just continue.
