ABR included ASZ partition in backup

Thread needs solution

Previously, when using ABR 10.5, from the management server, we created backup plan to include "Fixed volumes". On the client PCs, we have two hard disks, one for the system and the other was formatted as ASZ. The backup run properly to backup all the volumes on the first data/system disk to ASZ.

Recently, as a test, we upgraded a few PCs to 11.5. The centralized backup plan configured similarily to backup "Fixed volumes". However, the task seems to backup the ASZ itself. Event log shown:

May I ask how can we ignore the ASZ from backup plan, yet be able to select "Fixed volumes"?

Thanks

It's impossible to exclude ASZ, the only way to do it is include all other volumes by their letters from A to Z , plus SYSTEM and BOOT. If you have some volumes without letters (e.g. mounted as folders), they will be skipped in this case.

Hi Fedor,

Is it the expected behaviour? It was not the case when we are using ABR 10.5.

If I include A through Z, it would be possible to back any USB disk, too -- but we don't want to back them up.

Thanks

Raymond

In older builds it was impossible to select ASZ as backup source at all. In 11.5 it was fixed, as desired behavior (at least for local management case) was to be able to backup ASZ. I will check about centralized case.

Personally, i see no reason to backup the ASZ, as it is the backup set itself. My problem is that, if I select "Fixed volumes" or "All volumes", ASZ on the local PC will be backed, and it takes much longer to complete a backup task.

Actually, I am not sure if my configuration caused the problem to "wrongly" include ASZ as part of the backup.

Thanks

As a workaround, we select "Fixed Volumes" in the backup plan, but excluding "*.TIB". Doing so the task does not backup the Acronis files in the ASZ. However, it still takes an extra of 7 minutes to lock/look into the ASZ volume.

From the answers I got, it seems that there is no way to exclude the whole ASZ in this case.
