Backing up to locations using environment variables or duplicate DNS entries for Branches

Thread needs solution

I have 350 sites around the country.
The objectve is to backup 2 machines to the local NAS (all with the same local DNS entry of StoreNAS).
It is a Workgroup environment right now, as a result no DFS or AD available.

The 2 machines (each site has these machiens with exactly the same names) are MachineX and MachineY with a local DNS entry for the NAS of StoreNAS.

How can I setup Acronis 11.5 at head office to setup a storeage location/vault to be local to MachineX & MachineY to use the local StoreNAS DNS entry to be the location for the backup, rather than having to use specific IP addresses.

This is obviously an undesirable structure, but it is what I have right now, until I can get them onto AD, this i part of that process.

Thanks for your help

Hi

If all machines are registered in Acronis Management Server (AMS), you can create centralized backup plan and specify network share as backup destination.

If there are no AMS, then you can:

  1. create backup plan on one machine (specifying network share StoreNAS as destination)
  2. export backup plan to xml
  3. copy xml to all machines
  4. import backup plan to each machine by running "acrocmd import plan" command on each machine

Syntax of "acrocmd import plan" command can be found in Command Line reference
