Backup to standalone tape drive not working after migrate to new server

Thread needs solution

Hello everyone, we currently have an issue with our tape backup after migrate to new server. we tried all sort of steps but no luck:

- Upgrade hp smart array sas card firmware
- Upgrade tape drive hp lto6 6250 firmware
- Update driver
- Upgrade from ABR 11.5 to 11.7

But, backup to disk works well. It's been few days we working on this, the error message is still the same:

We have no idea where to continue diagnose anymore. Please help.

Hello.

Try this (on your risk, of couse):

1. backup your backup server configuration (whole C: drive and configuration database files in case they stored on different location)

2. be shure you made backup on step 1!!!

3. eject all tapes from drive or disconnect drive/library from backup server

4. delete all "storages" associated with tape drive in Acronis Management Console

5. delete all custom tape pools, move tapes to default Acronis pool

6. connect tape drive/library to your backup server

7. re-create new "storage" associated with tape drive

8. retry backup process

8.a. in case of success - goto step 9

8.b. in case of failure - restore your backup server configuration and wait for official acronis support

9. perform tape inventory to restore association of backups with re-created "storage"
