Message: Failed to create snapshot for backup.

Situation/Setup:
A) Microsoft Server 2003R2 SP2 Standard Edition is running as a VM in the Hyper-V of Microsoft Server 2012R2 Essentials.
B) MS Server 2003R2 VM is installed with Acronis Backup Server 11.5 Build 43994.
C) MS Server 2003R2 VM is to be backup together with a shared folder name "SAGE" from MS Server 2012R2 (tomserver12)

Question:
1) Can snapshot be taken for the shared folder "SAGE" from MS Server 2012R2 too? If yes, how to configure it?
2) If no snapshot can be done on the shared folder, how will the backup be affected?

Hello Gabriel,

Thank you for your posting! All network shares are backed up as files/folders, which means that snapshot is not created and files in use will not be backed up. Two possible workarounds could be to re-schedule the backup on time when files on shares are not in use or to install Agents directly to the server and backup these folders locally.

Thank you,
